In English conversation we want you to have fun learning English with a native speaker. You will be chatting about all kinds of interesting topics, learning good ways to start conversations as will as informal small talk skills.
"'Good Morning!' said Bilbo, and he meant it... Gandalf looked at him from under long bushy eyebrows...'What do you mean? - Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?'" (J.R.R. Tolkien - The Hobbit).
Bilbo and Gandalf's interaction shows us that even a simple greeting can have different meanings!
Conversations with others also allow us to express our feelings, to chat about what we have seen or heard, and also to explain and discuss a good idea or important topic.
When we speak to each other face-to-face, body language (a smile, a frown, a shrug or the tone of voice) is an important component to being understood and understanding others - how we say something can be more important than the words themselves. Of course, face-to-face conversations are not always possible, so we need also to be able to chat online and use video applications such as Skype or even that 'good old fashioned' phone call.
Speaking regularly will help build confidence and improve your pronunciation, especially when conversing with native speakers. Learning colloquial language und understanding certain slang can give you the necessary reassurance for those face-to-face real-life situations.
... and we have lots of interesting topics to chat about - this will give you the chance to express and share your own ideas and thoughts as well as maybe hearing about some of our English and American experiences. All in all - you'll set topic(s) and pace!
You will soon be learning new English phrases, great ways to start conversations and also new informal small talk skills, idioms and even slang which will all improve your fluency…
and helping native speakers to understand you!
