… this week we had 2 more nominations for our greatest Briton.
Firstly George Orwell, the English novelist who is most famous for his novels Animal Farm and 1984 (written in 1949). It was also interesting to listen to the discussion afterwards especially the comparison of the novel 1984 to some of the things happening around us today.
We also very much enjoyed finding out about the ‘mother of modern nursing’, the great Florence Nightingale. Did you know that her parents had two children and named them after the cities they were born in!? Lucky I wasn’t named after my birth city of Northampton…
