Have you had ‘one over the eight’?

Most of you know that the British love their pubs (I certainly do!). If you find yourself in a pub on the Island somewhere and are enjoying a few pints and hear someone tell you that you have had ‘one over the eight’, then you’ve probably been there too long. Eight pints was thought to have been the maximum amount to drink before you are officially ‘drunk’…

I think ‘one over the three’ would be about right for me.
