In her acceptance speach Mary also thanked Frankenstein without whom this would not have been possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In total, there were 35 nominations from all walks of British life &#8211; from science, arts, sports, food &amp; drink right through to comedy, politics and public life. Despite all team members presenting and arguing passionately for their personal favourites, there were still no hard feelings when the results were announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It certainly was a close-fought contest though, and commiserations have to go to Florence Nightingale and Isaac Newton in 2<sup>nd<\/sup> and 3<sup>rd<\/sup> place respectively \u2013 better luck next time to the both of you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An analysis of the full results certainly did throw up a few surprises though. Oliver Cromwell received no votes despite showing us all how to overthrow the monarchy and to set up a new government &#8211; maybe a little less puritanism will get you on the scoreboard next time Oliver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Below are the full results including the summary charts for our top five Britons<\/strong> \ud83d\ude0a<br>What do you think about them?
