ELunch 06.07 – Can Boris weather the storm?

Before diving in to British politics and the latest saga surrounding Boris Johnson, we started with some idiom practise (see below and take the test to see how well you do…).

My goodness…what IS going on with Boris Johnson and British politics right now?
This was just one of our topics of discussion during todays ELunch.

After months of scandals, lies and ‘Corona parties’ and also after having lost two recent ‘by-elections’, things got even worse for Boris last night (05.07) as two senior ministers (Rishi Sunak – Chancellor, and Sajid Javid – Health secretary) both resigned.
What happens next? Can he weather the storm? What do you think? Comment below if you like!

Short history of ‘BoJo’: Born in New York City to English parents and returned to the UK in his early childhood. As a student, he was awarded a Scholarship to study at Eton College and later he studied Classics at Oxford. He was the mayor of London from 2008 to 2016 and became prime minister (PM) of the UK in July 2019.
